The University of Miami Student Islamic Center will provide the following:

  • A place for Muslim students, faculty, and staff to attend Jumu'ah, Eid, Taraweeh, and regular prayers seven days a week.
  • A place for Muslim students to relax between classes and meet fellow Muslim students.
  • Provide an Islamic environment to learn in and facilitate the growth of becoming a good Muslim.
  • A library of books on Islamic topics and Islamic figures, which will be accessible to all University of Miami students to study and research Islamic topics.
  • Where is the Proposed Islamic Center:

    The University of Miami Islamic Center will be built in the parking lot in front of the Whitten Writing Center near the Pavia Parking Garage and other houses of prayer, such as the University of Miami Hillel for the Jewish community and the Chapel of the Venerable Bede for the Episcopalian community.

    Muslim Students of Univ. of Miami:

    The Muslim Students of the University of Miami (MSUM) promotes spiritual and moral development of the Muslim students at the University of Miami, instills a greater understanding and awareness of the Islamic culture and heritage, and serves the religious, cultural, and social needs of the Muslim students at the University of Miami.

    Build an Islamic Center by 2010-2011:

    The Muslim Students of the University of Miami stress the need for the construction of an Islamic center to support the 350 to 400 followers of the Muslim faith from students and professors to administrators and staff members. For the purpose of community engagement and urgent need for intimate prayer space, MSUM has been raising funds and interacting with the University of Miami administration for the past 20 years to build an Islamic Center.
